Exercises for Lash Artists: Keep Muscle Strain Away
We love lashing, don’t get us wrong, but sometimes it can be a literal pain in the neck...and wrists and fingers and eyes…
Any job with repetitive motion and a need for precision carries the risk of potential strain injuries, and lash artistry definitely isn’t immune to that. The more you do it, the more pressure you’re putting on your body.
However, there are ways you can exercise the various muscle groups involved in lashing and make your day (and later life!) more comfortable and pain-free.
Let’s check out some ways you can stretch and warm up before an appointment.

Hand and Wrist Exercises
Precision calls for very nimble hands and fingers, so it’s very important that you take care of them.
After all, your career depends on your hands. Here are some simple exercises you can do to keep the pain away and keep those hands strong.
Fists for Fit Fingers
Have you been lashing for such a long time that your hands feel like they’re holding tweezers even when they’re not?
Or do you just want to prepare before you even start your next appointment so that doesn’t happen?
Making a fist is a simple way to stretch out those hand and finger muscles to both relieve and prevent pain!
Wrist Exercise
Our hands and fingers aren’t the only ones needing a little love. Our wrists, too, can get exhausted after creating stunning lash looks. To help keep your wrists free from pain, try this exercise:
Save your hands & wrist with a massager
Another great way to make sure your hands are ready for a day of creating beautiful lash sets is to give them a bit of massage with compression and warmth.

The back of our necks is always strained when lashing because of the way our heads are bent, so it’s important to take care of that muscle first.
No matter how much we try to set up an ideal lashing station, just the fact that we have to bend our heads to do our job correctly is going to make our necks and backs hurt. It’s inevitable, but there are ways to exercise your neck to strengthen it and to ease the pain.
Here is a quick exercise you can fit into your day to stretch it:
Get a back brace for support
If your shoulders and back are in serious pain, wearing a back support brace is a great idea.

Eye Exercises
All of these other muscles can be in their best shape ever, but that won’t mean anything if your eyes are too tired.
It’s very important that you take care of your eyes, especially after working for hours. They’re the key to stunning lash looks.
If you can’t see what you’re doing, how will you get a “Wow!” from your clients?
To make sure your eyes are well-rested, try this palming eye exercise:
1. Sit at a table and keep your elbows in front of you on the table
2. Cup your eyes in each palm
3. Slowly breathe in and out while holding your eyes
4. Do this for 30 seconds at a time, then release and start again
5. Keep repeating for 2 minutes
Remember, your mental energy should be going toward creating amazing lash looks for your clients, not that annoying crick on your neck.
